LAND GUARDS ATTACKS INHABITANTS OF OKANTA COMMUNITY

The chiefs and inhabitants of OKANTA in the NSAWAM municipality of the eastern region are calling on the government and the inspector general of police to come to their aid to help solve the rampant attacks on the community members by land guards that are illegally selling their farm lands to

estate developers.

A close source information indicates that about some weeks ago a woman who is a party to the land owners of the community deployed over thirty well-built body land guards to destroy the farm lands and properties owned by the community members.

The land guards that have pitched camp at the farms of some community members attack and threaten the community members with sophisticated weapons and at some instance try to rape the women at gun point.

Some of the community members that spoke to ezytalks.com in an interview indicated that the presence of the land guards have put fear in them resulting in a huge number of the residents fleeing from the community to unknown destinations

According to them the estate developers through the assistance of the land guards have secured seven thousands acres of land without the notice of the chiefs and elders of the community.

They stated that they have reported the situation to the NSAWAM police station and the eastern regional police command but all to no avail

They however called on the government and the inspector general of police to intervene as their commercial activities is being curtailed due to the presence of the land guards.
